[Model Shoot] Jenifer Day @ The Levee (1.7.11)

Posted in 2011, Color, Digital, model shoot, Photo Post, strobist by William Patrick Butler on January 12, 2011

it’s 2011 and welcome to the first Scenes Around Jackson post of the new year!

after i made it back home from New Years, i immediately got to work shooting some assignments i had scheduled for BOOM Jackson (not a bad way to start a new year. ¬†when the issue hits the stands in a few months, i’ll post some of the shots that weren’t used) but, after a week of shooting commercial work i was itching to start shooting some personal work.

enter ms. Jenifer Day! ūüôā

ever since our last shoot, we’ve been trying to figure out a time where we could get together again, but just never could. ¬†but when she announced she was moving last week, we both got into gear and made it happen.

and so it came to pass, that Jenifer and I found ourselves back on the levee i shot Jessica on, with nothing but my softbox and the light of the setting sun.

THIS IS HOW YOU RING IN A NEW YEAR

[Model Shoot] Jenifer Day @ Fondren Corner (6.13.10)

Posted in 2010, black and white, Color, Digital, Fondren Corner, model shoot, Photo Post, strobist by William Patrick Butler on June 22, 2010

the second of the summer time model shoots is coming at ya!

last time i shot Jenifer it was for the Tiana Pearls photoshoot and ever since then we’ve been trying to find time to shoot again.

yes, ever since last October LoL

but it always seemed like we could never make it happen.  either i was busy or she was busy or i was out of town or she was sick etc.

well, finally, we nailed down a day and we made it happen on one bright and hot summer day in and around Fondren Corner.

decided to keep it as equipment light as i could this time.  i figured we would be shooting outside some and having to carry a crap load of lights around in the heat is not what i had in mind LoL

so, the only lighting i had with me was Lizzie’s strobist gear she’s been letting me borrow since forever and that’s it.

let’s do this!

[Model Shoot] Tiana Pearls photoshoots (10/09)

Posted in 2009, Color, Digital, Fondren Corner, model shoot, Photo Post, strobist by William Patrick Butler on November 6, 2009

so, like i said last post, here are the photos that have been keeping me so busy for the past few weeks.

back in october, i was contacted by a guy named Jason, who had seen photos i’d taken of The Bachelorettes, and wanted to know if i’d shoot some photos for a¬†jewelry company he was starting¬†up called Tiana Pearls.

him and his partner wanted photos of models wearing their products that they could use for their website and catalog book.

i said i could do it and had about a week and a half to get everything all shot and edited.

time to call in some friends!

lizzie let me borrow her strobist gear.

robin jayne and jenifer day agreed to let me shoot them, and sammi (whose boyfriend is jason) agreed to let me shoot her too.

let’s get busy.

[interlude 03]

yep, another busy working week so don’t have time for a full blog post

so, figured i’d show you what i’m starting to experiment with (and will be using this week for what i’ve been hired to do)

i’ve been wanting to get into using off camera strobist style lighting for a while but, y’know, that stuff ain’t cheap (and i like using¬†available¬†light)

but luckily, i have a very cool friend by the name of Lizzie Wright (she of the super spaceship & the bachelorettes) and she let me borrow her gear (because she’s quite a good photographer too)

after that, it was a crash course in seeing if i could figure everything out.

and when it’s crash course time, who else can you turn to but your family (as they, once again, show extreme¬†patience¬†from having me stick a camera in their faces) ūüôā

first up, my sister Jen!

Strobist Test

strobist info: speedlite and umbrella are to upper camera right, speedlite set to 1/4 @ 24mm.  camera: 1/125, f/4, ISO 200.

next, my Ma!

Strobist Test-2

strobist info: speedlite and umbrella are to upper camera right, speedlite set to 1/4 @ 24mm.  camera: 1/125, f/4, ISO 200.

yeah, same camera set up and everything, but the sun had set further.

both of these are straight out the camera.  just exported from RAW to JPG.

i took many more than just these two of them but i’m not allowed to post those :p

anyway, many thanks to Lizzie for letting me borrow her gear! ¬†she’s like a cool breeze on a hot summer day ūüėČ

ok, off to bed, have an early start tomorrow

to shoot! ūüôā
