Esperanza Plantation Holiday Showcase @ Pix/Capri (12.19.10)

Posted in 2010, black and white, Color, Digital, Esperanza Plantation Holiday Showcase, Photo Post, rock and roll by William Patrick Butler on December 22, 2010

sorry for the two month pause in activities (paid work has been keeping me pretty busy) 🙂 and welcome to what, odds are, will be the last Scenes Around Jackson post of 2010! (more on that later)

and just like last year, i’m closing it out with photos from the 2010 Esperanza Plantation Holiday Showcase!

once again, it was held in the heart of Fondren, at the Pix/Capri Theater and, as always everyone’s face got rocked off!

so, just like last year, this is a 100+ photo plus so don’t expect a lot of commentary from me 🙂

(and, once again, thanks to Stephen Barnett of Davaine Lighting, for providing excellent lighting.  and by excellent, i mean kick-ass!)

so, without further ado:

The Line-Up! (in order of appearance)

Winter Sport!

El Obo!

TB Ledford!

Wooden Finger!

The Weeks!

(with apologizes to Bear Colony and Colour Revolt.  they also performed but i just ran out of memory and battery life.  make sure to click those links and show ’em some love!)

(had to grab a shot as i was walking in) 🙂

and now, coming at us from Oxford, MS i give you Winter Sport!

Winter Sport ladies and gentlemen!  next up;

El Obo!

fresh from his appearance at last years Holiday Showcase, El Obo once again holds it down.  (his sister also joined him for a song)

El Obo ladies and gentlemen!  next up;

TB Ledford (if ya’ll have a band page link let me know and i’ll link ya)

this was TB Ledords first Holiday Showcase!

(heh, Chaney video taping)

TB Ledford ladies and gentlemen!  next up;

Wooden Finger!

when i first moved back to Jackson, back in ’05, Wooden Finger was one of the first acts i saw so it was great being able to shoot them

Wooden Finger ladies and gentlemen!  (and Chaney checks out the bull horn!)

and then intros the next group!

next up;

The Weeks!

they’ve been in the last two Holiday Showcases and just like always, they rocked the house!

The Weeks ladies and gentlemen!  next up;

J-TRAN was the last act of the Showcase and they closed it out in style!  This was also Josh Hailey’s last show before he moves to L.A. on Jan. 1st!  good luck in the big city Josh!

let’s let Chaney introduce ya’ll and then let’s rock it out!

and that’s how you close out a Esperanza Holiday Showcase, son!

once again, many many apologizes to Bear Colony and Colour Revolt.  but i’d promised Josh i’d shoot J-TRAN and i just didn’t have enough memory or battery life.

but other, great, Jackson photographers like Laura Meeks, Matt Weems, and more got some great shots so you should really check ’em out 🙂

well guys, i guess this wraps it up.

2010 became quite a busy year for me and that was a very good thing.  there’s nothing like the feeling of being paid to do something that you love 🙂  this may or may not be the last post of the year.  i’ve been thinking of doing a “year in review” type post but i may not have time.

so, if this is the last post of 2010, i hope everyone out there has a safe and great New Years and i’ll see ya next year! (where i promise at least one update per month!) 🙂

(and on a personal note, many congrats to all involved that fought and helped to get “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repealed.  it was far past time for that to be thrown into the dust bin of history!) 🙂

alrighty Chaney, what time it is?

that’s right!  ya’ll ain’t got to go home, but ya gotta get the hell outta here! 🙂

have a good one everybody!

see ya next year! 🙂

    Great set – and I agree it looks like the lighting was excellent too. Wish I had gone, it looks like it was a ton of fun.
