the second of the summer time model shoots is coming at ya!
last time i shot Jenifer it was for the Tiana Pearls photoshoot and ever since then we’ve been trying to find time to shoot again.
yes, ever since last October LoL
but it always seemed like we could never make it happen. either i was busy or she was busy or i was out of town or she was sick etc.
well, finally, we nailed down a day and we made it happen on one bright and hot summer day in and around Fondren Corner.
decided to keep it as equipment light as i could this time. i figured we would be shooting outside some and having to carry a crap load of lights around in the heat is not what i had in mind LoL
so, the only lighting i had with me was Lizzie’s strobist gear she’s been letting me borrow since forever and that’s it.
let’s do this!
so, like i said last post, here are the photos that have been keeping me so busy for the past few weeks.
back in october, i was contacted by a guy named Jason, who had seen photos i’d taken of The Bachelorettes, and wanted to know if i’d shoot some photos for a jewelry company he was starting up called Tiana Pearls.
him and his partner wanted photos of models wearing their products that they could use for their website and catalog book.
i said i could do it and had about a week and a half to get everything all shot and edited.
time to call in some friends!
lizzie let me borrow her strobist gear.
let’s get busy.
photographing dance is always a challenge. there’s an energy to dance that is…well, it’s hard.
one of my favortie photographers, Annie Leibovitz, wrote in her recent book Annie Leibovitz: At Work , how, after staying for three weeks with Mark Morris and Mikhail Baryshnikov and photographing them and their dancers as they worked to constuct a new show she came to a conclusion that ended up being one of my favorite quotes of that book.
“I begin to understand that dance can’t be photographed, or even filmed for that matter, it’s an art that lives in the air”
the laughing and the sweat and the flow of the music.
but just because something’s hard/impossible doesn’t mean it should stop you from trying to do it anyway.
“Dancing is a perpendicular expression of a horizontal desire”
- George Bernard Shaw
