[Model Shoot] Jessica – The White Robe Series (7.26.09)
and the Last Jackson Photoshoot Series continues (and maybe concludes) with Jessica and “The White Robe Series”
so. i’ve always wanted to shoot somebody during the “magic hour“. but i didn’t want to do it in the evening.
of course, finding someone to wake up around 5-something in the morning so they can have a camera in their face around 6-something isn’t an easy feat to pull off.
luckly, Jessica is made of win
when i got to her house to pick her up, she came to the door still in her robe, and we both sat on the couch, trying to wake up a little bit more before setting off.
as we’re sitting Jess goes, “y’know *yawn* i don’t feel like getting dressed. think we can just do the shoot with me in my robe?”
Me: “let’s do this.”
and off we went

so, our first stop, as the sun slowly crept toward the horizon, was a location i’d found a day or two before.

(this was actually a light test shot but i really like how it shows just how soft that early morning light is)
anyway, the spot was a hill on top of a levee just off of Fortification St.

i found it when i was on a photoshoot assignment for BOOM Jackson magazine.

the instant i saw it, i knew i wanted to shoot Jess there.

i mean, wouldn’t you?

of course you would.

i know, in my last post, i talked about how i was trying to “pull back” from my models more. get more full figure shots. but that wasn’t the case with this shoot.
as such, this is one of the few full figure shots i have.

i wanted to get in tight this time.

to see how that soft, early light played across her.

bet you didn’t know she had that many freakles, did you?

just love that light

one of my favorite shots of the shoot
at this point, we wrapped this location up (i’ll be back. really liked it) and set out for location two, racing the sun

location two is, well, i really have no idea how to describe how to get there

i found it during one of my “let’s explore what’s down this unpaved gravel road” afternoons

uh…wow…

here’s in outtake shot. focus is too soft and, really, not too interesting of a shot. but! it does show some of what the location was like.
yep! i only take my models to the finest spots :p

yes, we were, indeed, under a bridge
(and Jess has pretty eyes)

Jess actually wanted to climb on top of the support part of the bridge back there but i had to veto that idea.

but, even without risking death and broken bones trying to climb bridges, i think everything turned out fine
and this wraps location two. at which point, it’s on to the third and last location of the (very early) day.

this is the intersection of Amite and N. Congress St in downtown Jackson, right in front of the Plaza Building and across the street from Smith Park (which is to the back/left off camera)

i’ve been wanting to shoot here for a bit too but we didn’t stay for too long
by this time of the day, we were both really starting to feel the fact that we had been up since 5 something in the morning and it was going on 7:30 and we hadn’t even eaten breakfast yet.

so, a few, quick shots later and we wrapped it up for location three

heh, me and Jess, who are both as non-conservative as you can get, both found that sticker funny
so, of course we had to take a photo with it :p

and this will do it for the “White Robe Series”
i really enjoyed shooting this and many thanks to Jessica for being a great model and waking up with me so early in the day even though she was still in the middle of trying to move to Austin.
next post will either be the Wedding of The Bachelorettes to Senryu or another model shoot with my friend Sara Mac!
have a good one everybody.
see ya next post.
